Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the only international airport in Nepal, was closed for an hour on Wednesday after a dead bat was noticed on the runway.According to TIA spokesperson Prem Nath Thakur, the airport was closed from 8:25 am to 9:30 am.

He said that pieces of glass were also spotted on the runway.A few flights were diverted while some were put on hold, Thakur further said.The TIA was reopened after clearing the corpse of bat and glass pieces from the runway, he added.Earlier it was reported that it was a dead bird that affected the TIA for an hour.
Surprisingly, it took nearly an hour to keep the dead mammal away from the runway. “It’s a sheer negligence on part of the TIA authority,” a senior captain with international airlines reacted. He, however, did not want to be named.Every international airliner has to make a huge loss for diverting scheduled flights, according to him.
